We had another great locker room last Sunday 24/07, this time we discussed a lot of the implementation in the past few weeks about the strategy and data. And no one better to discuss all of these than our data guy, Jordy.
It was on Sunday, yes, on SUNDAY, Guhs is on vacation, but we need to go into some details with the community so they can understand what you are doing.
Some of the new features that we have in the game.
We have
- the mentality
- the passing
- the play zone
Jordi explains what they have in mind when they decided to implement this type of feature at this point, and as you all know, the ultimate objective is to have a real football manager, so that all of the users can choose the way they play and based on that we introduced the first of the tactics first was "mentality" and then "passing style" and "play zones" so what we want to do is little by little giving more choices to the user and so that they can play as they want. Bringing MetaSoccer from a "Click to Earn", to a more skilled-based game as a “Play and Earn” so you have to be good as a manager to win and to be the top one.
The output will depend on your decision, so formation, "mentality", "passing style" and "play zones" will impact your final result.
If you had a 47 overall team with 3 midfielders or 4 or 2 defenders anything it was not so important, now it is. Not the same to play with 5 defenders as to play with 3 for example. If you play with 5 defenders and you select the hard attacking it's not a good decision. As it is a more aggressive attacking passing, but your best feature could be defense.
If for example, your best player is your center midfield, play through the middle. If it’s a left winger, then play left, again it depends on the other players as well so if you only have one good player, but the rest are not so good, try to select the best combination for your stronger players.
So, right now we need to start to be like a real coach, to try to put the best players in the position so we can have the more optimal percentage, there are some combinations that will impact negatively your team and some others that will impact positively and most of them are logical.
Now, as we have all these new strategies, that means that the opponent as well, and this will be placed against us. So the opponent can also select the optimal mentality of the tactics but one thing to be clear is that this is not impacting your team. You’ll have to decide the best tactics based on your lineup and the opponent's level overall it doesn't matter if the opponent selects heart attacking or anything.
Let’s say you have a 54 overall and you’re facing the opponent with 46 overall, but then its used the worst mentality for this team, then it’s not 54 anymore, gonna be lower because you’re not playing optimal and the opponent can go for 46 or 47 to either 50 or something else because they are playing the ultimate. That may be one of the reasons why some users complain.
As said, the game changed, so we can’t expect the same results as before, if keep the same strategy as before, that doesn't mean that the “balance” mentality is the worst, but if you don't change maybe your lineup is playing the wrong way because you are selecting balance and you have a very good forward and you have to select long passing style for example.
You have to discover what you need to adapt in your own formation like a real coach, to see how you can be better in the game. For sure that you will see the win rates decrease until they start to increase again, with learning.
